Job Title : Home Care Worker
Location: Aylesbury

Personal Care can include assistance with:
• Washing • Bathing/Showering • Shaving • Toileting • Oral Care • Dressing and undressing • Feeding • Continence Care • Help with getting out of bed/getting into bed • Assistance with taking prescribed medication (oral medication only) • Assistance with mobility.
Special Tasks: • Continence Management • Stoma/Colostomy Care • Pressure Area Care
• Assistance With Eye/Ear Drops • Mouth Care • Operating moving and handling equipment • Bowel evacuation.
Other duties that may be required may include: • Light domestic tasks – dusting, cleaning, washing dishes • Vacuum cleaning • Laundry and ironing • Bedmaking • Meal preparation • Shopping • Bill paying • Collecting of pensions
Before commencing employment new employees are required to provide two references, (one of which is usually their most recent employer) and to have an enhanced criminal record check. Two recent passport photos are required one to be kept on file and the other for an ID badge – this is an essential prerequisite of commencement of employment.
If offered a position, new staff must undergo induction training which includes Health and Safety, Fire safety, an understanding of the core values and principles of the care standards and regulations including - confidentiality, whistle blowing, requirements of legislation, policies and procedures of the organisation and a code of personal conduct.
A new carer will also have to accompany (shadow) an experienced staff member before being allowed to work on their own.
There is a great deal more information that can be written in this job description, but briefly there is a lot to learn and understand, and new staff must be prepared to undertake all of the above and must meet all required criteria to be considered fit to be employed in the care sector.
